Raimbeaucourt Library as a Welcoming Community Space

In this week’s Princh Library Blog post, we are going to cover the transformation of the Raimbeaucourt Library. WF Education Group was asked to design and upgrade the library into a welcoming community space, where different cultures come together. This article was originally posted on the WF Education Group’s website. You can find the original article here.

A welcoming community space for the city of Raimbeaucourt

Access to culture for all is essential for the community. Having a friendly space bringing together different cultures was the wish of the city of Raimbeaucourt in France. This is why the multi-welcome space was created in 2023 where a library, a digital museum, and a music school meet.

A new building for a new library

This multi-welcome space is in a brand new building, surrounded by beautiful gardens and scenery. A place where it is now possible to come and get a book after work, browse on a computer, or to sit in a comfortable seat and enjoy your afternoon tea.

Julie Sticker, head of the cultural centre of the city of Raimbeaucourt said:

“We wanted to make culture accessible to all in a friendly environment, for the people of Raimbeaucourt, but also for the outside visitors.”

How WF Education helped

The head of the youth centre was facing a real challenge as they had to plan and design this library space without any past experience. This is why WF Education Group was asked to provide support and accommodation. WF Education’s expert design team helped them imagine, plan and create their new library! The library included the installation of shelving, dens, seating, displayers, and much more. We also created dedicated zones for teenagers and children to read and hang out in. On top of that, we made sure the design reflected the aesthetic they wanted for their space.

The library of Raimbeaucourt is composed of a corner for teenagers using our Everna™ teen reading range. The double alcove allows this young audience to sit comfortably in this dedicated space to read on the spot. The inclined shelves make it possible to highlight the books on the front cover in order to encourage spontaneous reading. The dedicated space is embellished with a few ottomans and seats as well as a manga tower on wheels and comic bins nearby. Teenagers can find all their favourite books at their fingertips.

In addition, the central spans on the walls are from our Cantilibra™ shelving system. Fixed or mobile, they make it possible to rearrange the space very easily thanks to the casters.

In a space mainly consisting of blue, our furniture and shelving helped brighten up the library with a variety of colours. White, vicenza oak and curry yellow on our shelves form a warm and friendly combination.

“The colours are very beautiful, users appreciate the new furniture.”

“The space is very flexible thanks to the wheels on the shelves.”

More than just a library

The people of Raimbeaucourt can now also access culture and innovation with the digital museum and the virtual reality space within the welcoming community space. Thanks to the cultural mediator of Raimbeaucourt, users can consult the various works of art on themes or try the VR headsets for total immersion. A true technological innovation appreciated by users, but especially young audiences.

“Teenagers love this device and can escape for a little whilte. They are on board a roller coaster or on Mont Blanc thanks to virtual reality headsets.”
