Now Accepting Concepts for the 2026-2027 Innovator in Residence Program
The Library of Congress is seeking our next Innovator in Residence to start in September 2026! We will fund an individual up to $90,000 per year, for a maximum of two years, to create a transformative digital work with Library of Congress collections for the American people and to serve as an ambassador for the Library. This is a mostly remote residency experience that can be designed around your schedule. You can review the program page for the full run-down of the opportunity.
Those interested in applying are asked to submit a concept paper detailing their envisioned digital work and research by 2 p.m. EDT on April 10, 2026. The digital work(s) could tell an engaging story and prompt deeper inquiry, demonstrate a new method of discovering Library items, or present free-to-use items and tools to enable creative remixing and reuse. Digital mediums that can be experienced online through web applications, visualizations, and multimedia works are preferred. All concepts should enable members of the public to experience meaningful connections with the Library’s materials.
Register on the program page for one of our informational webinars to get a walkthrough of the application process.
Any questions about this opportunity must be emailed to [email protected] by March 20, 2026, as we are unable to answer questions submitted as comments on this post. Please include this BAA number (030ADV26R0021) and “BAA Innovator in Residence” in the subject line.
We look forward to seeing your concepts!
